New Leadership Appointed to Cultural Council of Palm Beach

Recently, a new president was appointed to the Culture Council of Palm Beach, a nonprofit county-wide organization aimed at “supporting the arts.” The person appointed, Dave Lawrence, has an impressive resume and will assume the role later this month. According to Palm Beach Daily News, he is an “arts veteran.” He will be replacing Rena Blades.

According to the Indy Star, Lawrence was the CEO of the Arts Council of Indianapolis and has been in that position for 2 decades, he has several roles while working there. In 2009, he assumed the role of president. He stepped down on August 3.

Lawrence had also hinted earlier to the Indy Star that he attended a panel for the Culture Council in 2013 in Palm Beach and was “really taken by the depth of the arts community there.”

According to the Indy Arts website, Lawrence loves roller coasters, Adele and the ocean. With his love for the ocean, he’ll surely love working in the Town of Palm Beach.

The Cultural Council of Palm Beach serves the whole county. According to their website, the council celebrated 40 years as they date back to 1978. It was founded by Alexander W. Dreyfoos, who was also named after the arts high school in West Palm Beach, respectively.

The council serves the whole county of Palm Beach and is located in Lake Worth. Currently, at their location, they are hosting artwork from the staff of the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. This exhibit launched in late May and will run through August 18.

At the facility, they have a store called the Roe Green Uniquely Palm Beach Store. All products at the store are from the Palm Beaches. Gifts include art, jewelry and, clothing. The facility is also available for private events.

Lawrence starts on August 20, 2018.
